Little White Dress

This sweet little girl...ooooh she just makes me smile.  My other one does too of course, but it is this age!  20month.  She can ask me for whatever she want when she has pigtales in her hair.  Seriously...look at her.

So for this family Photo session i made white dresses for the girls.  I want to share with you what I did.  It was quite simple.

Two peices of white cotton the same size.  Roughly 19 x 20 inches.  This is for a dress that will fit for a couple years.

cut little half circles for the arm pits.  Measure an existing dress.

with right sides together, sew up the side seams, adding a side tag if desired, stopping at the armpits.  Serge or zig zag the armits seperatly.

Fold the armpits 1/2 inch and press

 Sew that seam down.

gather/ruffle the front and back of the dress at the collar area.  Use your gathering foot or use this method found HERE. (Thanks Disney from Ruffles and Stuff)

now cut two peices for Bias tape 3x5 inches

fold each edge 1/4-1/2 inch and press, then fold in half and press.

place your ruffled collar inside the fold and pin.

then do a top stitch right close to edge all the way around.  Repeat this step for both the front and back of the dress.  This holds in the gather/ruffle and gives a neat finish to the collar.

Now measure your daughter for the straps.  This is roughly 4 inches for me when finished.

press and fold in half and sew them to the dress.

Finishe by doing a 1 inch hem at the bottom of the dress.  I serged, then folded, pressed and sewed.

cute and simple right?  Here are some good ideas for fabric.  Old Vintage Pillowcases.  They are the perfect size for these dresses and often you can purchase those at thrift stores for pennies!!

 these are my angels.

sporting BNNB.  That is the sweetest scene.  They are following a bunny that was hopping around.  They'll pick animals for princesses anyday.

ENJOY!!

The Tip of the Iceberg

What a flippen week.  I am not a real complainer, but it is kind of weird how this week just totally went in a tornado and was spit out in all sorts of messes.  Luckily I can shrug my shoulders after being sad for a moment and know that I must move on...I have to.
I am glad I am not a dweller when it comes to bad things happening.  I have to move on and be positive and know that it all happened for a reason.

So for kicks and giggles I am documenting all the crazy things that happened this week.

1. Someone, as  you all know, hacked into my craft blog and posted crzy things.  It scared me, worried me and pissed me off.  LUCKILY the content of the posts were only about weight loss, hair loss and today's, woodworking.  HUH!!

2.  My pregnancy just went from a normal, discomfort to a WHOLE other level of ridiculousness and pain, when I spent 2 whole days by myself taking care of the kids while honey was on a scout campout.  picking up toys, making beds, picking up dog poop, yelling, bathing the girls.  Not fun when your in constant pain from  ooooh  having no relief with help was horrible.  LUCKILY I realized how much my honey DOES help me around the house.  Thanks sweetie!!

4.  my little Bella Rose drinking 3/4 bottle of Children's Tylenol and having poison Control me she could be toxic and rushing to the ER.  Not my finest parenting moment.  I was so mad at myself that i let it happen by leaving the lid off while I nursed my other child with a dose for her headache.  I had to leave the room while they strapped her down to get an iv in..that sucked.  LUCKILY the staff what amazing and she was happy while we waited for hours in the room to get test results back.  LUCKILY she was under the toxic levels and we didn't need to be transferred to Children's hospital.  We got to go home.

3.  Missing the Taylor Swift Concert.  She came to Glendale for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday.  We were ready to go Saturday and realized our tickets for Friday.  Oh well.  Can't really dwell on that one too long.  It is what it is.  LUCKILY I love my friends and no matter what happens we support each other.  Even through dumb silly mistakes.

4.  While trying to have fun "missing" the Taylor concert we went to a movie.  HORRIBLE!  I have never been so upset over a movie.  By all means go and see the Ryan Gossling and George movie, they are wonderful and pleasant to look at, but the movie was a complete dissapointment.

5.  After changing my password on my blog numerous times it continues to get hacked.  As I have put together this new blog and spent hours linking back to my old posts and tutorials, being hacked for the final time today put me over the edge.  I had to make a decision to delete the entire blog.  Posts and all.  I tried exporting them to my computer but it didn't work.  So now I am basically starting from the beginning.  A new blog from scratch.  2 1/2 years of hard work gone. deleted.  I am sad, but LUCKILY I have amazing followers that hopefully will continue with my on my journey in this new blog and continue following my fb page.

So  Now that I have that out, PLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEE  don't forget about me.  Follow me here at bnnb crafts.

Thanks guys!!!

Bumper Pad

Have you ever made a whole bumper bad from scratch using the foam bumper inserts from the sewing store?  That is what I have always done.  Its nice, but sometimes when you want to add binding, it is too thick and seams to put a lot of stress on your machine.  So while browsing IKEA one fine day with my cute friend, Brittany (hey girl), we found that they had PLAIN WHITE PADS!!!  Immediately that thing got thrown in my cart and I had ideas of painting stripes using my painters tape method found HERE and HERE
I tried that...but got scared pretty much knowing that it would fail because as you can see, the pad has lots of seams down it...that would welcome lots of bleeding stripes...not good!
So I let them sit for a while trying to think what the heck was to become of this $15 treasure...I remember I bought some grey fabric. PERFECT!!  So now I will be showing you how you can pretty much made your own bumper pad for cheap and easier on your machine!!!  We embellished everything else, why not a bumper pad?

Now this tutorial is me just doing the fabric on the outside of the bumper, if you want a double sided/printed bumper, then repeat all the steps for the other side.

These bumpers are all one long peice.  So it is pretty long.

Feel Free to make your own cute ties to add more color and funness to your bumper...Of course I am going plain and simple so I stuck with what already came with the bumper...Plus that means less cutting and sewing.

sorry I dont' have good pictures of it on the crib, bad time of day and bad lighting, but I wanted you to see the bigger idea of it on the crib.

ENJOY!!
